Bling It On Challenge

Our latest challenge starts today and I've certainly seized the opportunity of using Fran's encrusted jewel technique for my project!!!

I built up the texture with various colours of the shabby embossing enamels, shaved ice and glass glitters

I love these mosaics, they are self adhesive and can be cut into shapes so they can be added as a whole piece to save trying to line them all up!

All the chippie shapes are great to use with the enamels but adding numbers to cards are great for the special years.

I've been busy encrusting lots of chippie shapes, it's great fun!!!  I'll show more next week

Just a reminder that we are at a show on Sunday,

Doncaster Rugby Club, Doncaster, DN2 5QB (10am-3pm)

Whatever you are doing, have a great weekend, and I hope the weather improves for us all!!!

Simple Stampendous Peony card

Here's another card with the Stampendous Peony stamp.  I used the scroll that comes in the same set as the background with Versamark ink and chalks

I used Stampendous Aged Black embossing enamel, so there's no encrusted jewel technique for a change.

We are getting ready for the Ross Papercraft show in Rainton Meadows on Sunday, let's hope the weather is kinder to us all over the weekend as it's a really wild one out there today!!

London and the Thames Pageant Card

This is one of the cards we didn't get to show on last Wednesday's Stampendous show.

It is the London stamp that Fran Seiford designed and released early for us here in the UK as it is not available in the States until the Christmas supplement comes out.

I am beginning to wonder where my brain wanders to as this is my interpretation of the Thames drifting through the London word, maybe it is because I made this over the Jubilee weekend and I was inspired by the pageant.  I should have put some small boat images on there but maybe not the full 1,000!!!

I really should write down all the blingy bits that I use but I know I used Stampendous aged aqua embossing enamel for this one, it was perfect!!

I added some blue fragments, blue glitter glass and I'm sure other smaller amounts of the enamels and glitters, maybe even some aqua tinsel, which are all HERE.

Here's another card, a simple one and a bit less dramatic!!  I used Stampendous silver detail embossing powder onto blue vellum and mounted that onto red vellum.  Both colours are in the brights pack of vellum that is in our Special Offer section on the website.  I also used this to make some bunting as the colours are perfect for that along with some normal white vellum.

Well, it was nice seeing some sunshine over the last couple of days, have sadly waved it goodbye again today :(

Thanks for visiting!

Peony card from Stampendous show

Here is another card from last Wednesday's Ideal World/Stampendous show for the International Event.

I demonstrated with the Stampendous CRS5001 CLING - Jumbo Peony stamp

I chalked an A5 piece of white card then stamped the peony in black ink onto the card so that I could use it as a guide to add the enamels.

I had prepared another that I had embossed with aged black embossing enamel, chalked, then cut out to place over the top once I had finished adding the enamels, glitters, and glass fragments.

I used mainly the shabby enamels, letting them flow from the bottom of the peony design before heating from underneath.

Heating from underneath without any ink gives a more natural flow than applying ink from a pad.  Using pens to hold the powders tend to give a scribble effect so perhaps try painting the card randomly with embossing ink, a Versamark re-inker would be good to paint onto the card or, a glue stick like Tombow clear glue stick is also possible if you are struggling without any ink.

There is no right or wrong way to do it so best to try it out and see which way suits you.  The main aim for this flowing type of encrusted jewel technique is that it should look random with a natural flow.

Once this had cooled down I added the embossed cut out peony.

As the dragonfly chippie is a shape, I inked it with Versamark ink before adding the enamels, glitters and glass.  Unfortunately the photos don't show how gorgeous the colours and textures are.

Chippies are available in many shapes HERE.  I'll be showing a lot more with these as they are great with the enamels

Here's a reminder of the shows we have for the rest of June and July where I'll be demonstrating these techniques.  Local people note the show in Leeds, I want to remind you as I know people who didn't know about the last show were disappointed to have missed it.

Stampendous Railway Clear Stamp Set - a few more cards!

Here are a few more cards made with the Stampendous Railway clear Stamp Set SSC1139 that I featured here on Sunday with some other ideas/layouts.

I have used the Stampendous CRN247 Locomotive cling stamp for the main panel.

Again I used a coffee background and a Quickie Glue Pen to edge the mount for the main panel along with Stampendous Aged Gold Embossing Enamel.  I coloured the main panel with chalks.

The railway map makes a great border.  I have trimmed off the border lines and torn one of the edges on the card below.

Finally, a smaller version of the steam train card.  I added some gold halo glitter into the mix to give it a bit more sparkle.

I really think this is a great set for mens cards, especially those that are older who perhaps don't appreciate the usual sports or drink themed cards.  Using them for scrapbooking would be good too!

I'll be taking my cards to the Ross Papercraft show, Rainton Meadows, Houghton-le-Spring, near Sunderland on Sunday if you'd like to see the cards I made for the show and I'll be demonstrating the encrusted jewel technique there.

You'll find more details about the show HERE, we'll look forward to seeing you if you are local and able to attend :)

Thank you for visiting!

Fantasy Tile card from Ideal World/Stampendous show

I used Stampendous SSC1137-R Fantasy Tiles Perfectly Clear Stamps for this tag card.

The images are all 1" square, (called inchies). They are versatile as they can be used in multiples and are great for ATCs.

I sprayed the tag with coffee and coloured with chalks when dry.

I stamped the images with Versafine black ink then embossed them with Stampendous detail clear embossing powder.  The image below is a 1" version of the 2" main stamp that is also available.

I used a Quickie Glue Pen to apply a fine scribble around the edge of the card then added Stampendous Aged Black Embossing Enamel and heated straight away.

The enamel seems to expand and I love the way it works with the fine glue pen rather than any other embossing pen as they can make it look too thick.  I love the randomness of the blobs of heated powder.

You can see the colours in the powder in the photo above, the gold flecks give a lovely finish.

The stamp sheet also includes this lovely filigree border, very useful!!!

I'll show more cards with the stamps I was asked to demo in the show another time!

Cards from Stampendous/IW show on Wednesday

Did you manage to watch the show?  It was really busy on Wednesday with craft shows on both Ideal World and Create and Craft at the same time, in fact I have never been there when it has been SO busy.  I do marvel at how they do so many shows back to back like that!!  It was also great to catch up with the guests that were around that day too.

I didn't get to show everything in the show - what's new - so I'll show the cards and other info here.

As it is Father's Day today I thought I would start with this card featuring the Stampendous Perfectly Clear stamp set Railway (SSC1139)

I'll be adding this card to our Time/Travel themed challenge as it is appropriate for that.  This challenge started on Friday so there is still time for you to join in too.

I have been asked about the square stud brads I used, they are from Woodware and are available in brass, copper, silver and pewter.  There are 3 sizes in the packs, 36 brads in total.  I used the largest (above) and the smallest (below).  They are great for vintage cards and altered projects.

For the Frantage steam effect for the train I mainly used shabby white, aged ivory, aged aqua embossing enamels with a few bits of aged black and silver that I sprinkled in with my fingers, just tiny pinches.  I also added some glitter glass.

I sprayed coffee for the background and added colour with chalks.  I am really enjoying using chalks again they add such soft and subtle colour and blend really well even on the coffee background.  The spray bottles I used are HERE.

The Father greeting I added is from Woodware Stamps - Clear Magic - FRCL079 - Male Relatives

I hope you are all enjoying your Sunday

Thanks for visiting!

TV Update - I'm on IDEAL WORLD on Weds, not Create and Craft!!!

Sorry, I didn't find out until this afternoon, I assumed it would be Create and Craft.

If you wish to record the show then please record Ideal World instead!!!

I hope you are able to join me live though, I'm going to be demonstrating on behalf of Stampendous as part of the Ideal World International Craft Day.

I'll be Fran-taging, using all sorts of lovely bling to create Fran's Encrusted Jewel technique.  Here's a sneaky peek photo of something I'm featuring in the show.

I hope you are able to watch the show.  I believe it may be repeated on Create and Craft later on Wednesday.

I'm back on the telly next week!!

Yes, I am on Create and Craft TV next WEDNESDAY, 13th JUNE at NOON!!!  Sorry for shouting but it's been a long time since I was on, it's REALLY exciting!!!!!!

It's a busy time here as amongst other things we are also at the Stamp Magic show at The Dome in Doncaster on Sunday.  We hope to see you there if it is local to you.  I will be playing with embossing powders again and today I'm showing a tag that I made at the Port Sunlight show we attended in May

I used the Stampendous Butterfly Post stamp and fran-tage products on our website, HERE

I used Woodware Chalks to add colour and Moonshadow Mist to give a vintage look.

I don't know about you but I'm feeling quite patriotic at the moment, we really should be proud of our Queen and fellow country folk for making it such a great weekend of celebrations.  Shame about the usual British weather though!

I hope you are having a good week so far!

Thank you for visiting :)

Make It For A Man Challenge

Our next fortnightly challenge started on Friday, Make It For Man, a chance to get some male cards made especially with Father's Day coming up this month

I decided to use the Stampendous clear stamp set Railway along with a little Fran-taged engine steam.

I used coffee for the background and kept it pretty simple, I just need to add some wording when it's ready to send.
I used:
Coffee

With the bank holiday approaching and having beautiful sunny days last week Ian and I decided to get out for an afternoon to make the most of the weather and knowing that it would likely be crowded there over the bank holiday.

We took the hairy mad monster to 5 rise locks in Bingley, shame that we just missed a barge going up by only just catching the last stage.

So far we've been lucky that the HMM doesn't leap into the canal but the little monster managed to find a really muddy puddle to roll in on the way back!!!

Oh for some more sunshine!!

I'm sitting here today wondering how my Mum is getting on, she's gone to London to see the Queen!!  At 5' she isn't going to see much in amongst the many people that will be there but like she said, she'll enjoy the atmosphere and excitement of the occasion.  I think she'll need her brolly though!!

Hope you are having a great Sunday!!!!
