Sad news - a big change!!

As you may have read in my previous posts, we are having a major clear out and sale, this is due to Ian and I making a major decision about our business.

Our shop lease is up for renewal, and we have decided not to renew it.  We have spent time and failed to find suitable premises at the right price, and have taken the decision that we will close the shop at the end of June.

Everything else will continue the same, the mail order service, our own stamp range, shows, challenges, swaps etc. It is simply the shop that is closing, sadly we cannot justify the high cost of running a retail shop in the current economic climate.

I am working on new stamps at the moment and we have other ideas/plans in mind that we will now have time to work on.

We would like to thank everyone for their support in the past, and hope you will continue to support us.  It isn't a decision that has been made lightly, as many of you may know we have had a shop for over 20 years.

So, if you wish to visit and have a rummage in our sale room this weekend, we are open tomorrow from 11am - 4pm, closed on Sunday and open on Monday from 11am - 4pm.

Have a good weekend!

Jill x

  1. So sorry to hear that you have to close your bricks and mortar shop Jill. I have never been but can imagine what a big decision you have had to make. Hope you continue in your other ventures. I love sending my ATCs for your swap, so long may they continue.

  2. So sad - so few proper shops now. I've only been able to visit you on odd occasions as I don't drive and live miles away, but it was a real treat when I did.
So glad you will be still at shows though.

  3. I'm so sorry to hear this Jill and know how upsetting it must be as the same thing happened last year to the craft shop where I used to teach and all because the greedy landlords upped the rent too much to be affordable.
Glad to hear the online store will keep on though.

  5. Thinking of you, Jill. I know how you feel but I'm sure this is for the best right now. It will do you and Ian good to have some time to yourselves, even if not full time! Cathx

  12. Oh Jill, I am so sorry - it's an end of an era, and I'm sure your "physical" presence in Skipton will be missed, particularly for us crafters who live quite near - I still miss your last shop in the town centre! I wish you and Ian every success for the future. Best wishes, Sylvia xxx

  17. So sorry you've had to make this decision, Jill. It's quite understandable, but a sad one, nevertheless. I'm very glad you'll still be online at least. Hope to see you at Doncaster. xx

  20. I'm really sad to hear this. I wouldn't have taken up wonderful paper crafting if it hadn't been for your Stampman shop in Skipton - one day in the mid 1990's I was enticed in to your shop by the beautiful window display. Ian was demonstrating a starter's embossing kit - I bought one and two rubber stamps and that year for the first time I stamped and embossed my own Christmas cards ( using the toaster). Thank you for thousands of happy creative hours since that first attempt - it's all down to the Stamp Man! Glad you will still be around. Anne x

  23. Jill and Ian, I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm afraid we've not been able to get to your actual shop as we live to far away. However do you remember when we came in the caravan that time and it snowed!!!. I just love your product I always have. We usually buy them at shows etc.
I wish you and Ian all the best for the future and am glad you are still going to carry on selling on-line and on C&C.
    Hugs Jenny & Paul xx

  27. Hi Jill, The end of another era! I remember when I first met you at CHA with Maggie and Judith from Woodware, wow it doesn't seem like 11 years ago. I hope it will mean only good things for you and Mr Stampman. Look forward to catching up with you again at a show, maybe you will be able to do a few more down my way now!!!
Love and hugs to you both and thanks for all the wonderful goodies that you bring us all.
