Aspects of Design 47 Wedding 1 Stamp Sheet

I thought I'd show you a couple of Wedding cards using one of the two wedding sheets in our collection, I included wording other than the usual Wedding Invitation etc. If you have 100's of invites to make you want to keep it simple so I stamped using Brilliance ink pads and then pulled the colour from the outlines with a waterbrush to create shading.

A peek of Kay Carley's new Funky Frame Stamps

It's nice and sunny in Skipton today, I guess we had better make the most of it as it looks as if it will be the best day this weekend. Skipton is very busy as it is the waterways festival this weekend. OK, today's first bit of news is...

Kay and I promised a peek at her new designs and now they are all finished and in production. Kay is showing you a peek at one of the designs from the Funky Flower sheet and I am showing one from the Funky Frames sheet, so pop over to Kay's to see the other one. I know she is out all day demoing, so won't be able to add any comments until later.

As with all Kay's designs they are very delicate and I'm sure they will prove great designs for summer cards.

A Big Hello and Craft Stamper Magazine

Well Jill has asked me to drop by and introduce myself(payback time i think,for all the ear bashing ive been giving her to do a blog)!!Well my name is Debbie Dolphin and have worked for Jill and Ian for nearly 6 years.I have been crafting for about 9 years now.It all started when i was shopping in Skipton one day and went into this lovely little shop which was an aladdins cave full of craft goodies and rubber stamps and this man(Ian) was stamping an image and sprinkling on this gold powder(embossing powder!) and heating it up and well we all know what happens to it then!I was absolutely gobsmacked and have been hooked ever since.Thankyou Ian(your the one to blame for me having no money now)!!!hee hee
Though seriously,i love my work and Iam very grateful to be part of the team.Plus i get to open up the boxes of all the new goodies and be first to try them out!hee hee.
Anyhow,back to the interesting stuff.When i got home today guess what was in my postbox?This months issue of Craft Stamper.Yay! and Kay has done a lovely article on her Japanese Dragonfly stamps.I actually have this sheet of stamps,so guess what i'll be doing tonight,but if you haven't you can get them HERE

Moonshadow Ink Technique

It's been a funny old day today one way or another, but I am pleased to say that Kay's second new stamp sheet is now in production!

I've been out in the garden earlier this evening, (briefly as it is wet and cold here), playing frisbee with Hamish who decided that a wide shallow plant pot holder needs playing with and is now his new toy. I managed not to throw it over the garden fence!

Anyway, back to cards.... Moonshadow Inks are another favourite of mine that work the same way as Starburst Stains.

The main difference between the 2 products is that Moonshadow ink has Walnut Ink as a base with colour coming from the Mica Pigment Powders, whereas Starburst Stains are pretty colours and mica mixes.

I find Moonshadow Inks are ideal to use for cards for men and any vintage work, (not just cards).

Moonshadow inks hold a much more dramatic pattern as the walnut ink and mica separate more than the stains giving a more defined edge to a splodge (IYKWIM!)

This is one of the first cards I made with the Moonshadow Inks, (probably about 7-8 years ago), I did little splodges with a detail paint brush and this photograph is a good example to show you as it really shows the Mica colours.

Another point it shows is the difference between allowing the inks to dry naturally or drying with a heat gun. You can see definite edges around the splodges of the back background as this was allowed to air dry which enabled time for the ink and mica to separate before they dried. The upper background was dried with a heat gun and it gives a more overall shimmer with a softer look.

We have Moonshadow Inks on special offer at the moment so it is a great time to try them out. I'll be showing more techniques and ideas with them as we go along.

Thank you everyone that has joined our blog today, I've been busy emailing, getting more bits together to post here and looking at your blogs this evening.

Meanwhile Debbie has added a slide show at the bottom of the page showing photos of sections of our shop that she took today. Thanks Debbie, it's great!!!

I have been in contact with Kay tonight, as she has now finished the 2nd new stamp sheet. The first new sheet went into production today, I cannot wait to try them out, they are lovely! Kay is now finishing the 3rd sheet so we're all getting there! By the time they arrive I should have worked out how to offer blog candy, so watch this space!

Anyone going to the HSNW show at Port Sunlight, Wirral next weekend? If so, please come and say hello. I'm not sure what I am going to demonstrate yet as you never know I may have Kay's new stamps to play with (fingers are all crossed for this!). I also may demonstrate a new idea that I've still to try (yes, it WILL be a messy one), maybe I can combine the idea with the new stamps! I'll have a chat with Kay and see if we can both give you a sneaky peak on our blogs of one or two of the new designs

Hamish has been up to his usual trick tonight, he had a perfectly fresh bowl of water to drink from but decided to drink the horrid water in our pond instead, must like it being more tasty! Talking of bad habits, he's grown out of this one now (thank goodness) but I couldn't resist showing you these photos, he was 8 weeks old and decided to have a schnoooze in my old comfy shoes, glad he thought they were comfy too. I PROMISE that there will be more crafting pics than photos of my dog here but I just love these photos!!!

Hamish

This is our Springer Spaniel Hamish, (he is Scottish and was already named when we got him). It's probably why he doesn't understand what we are saying to him sometimes!

He was a pup in the photos but as he has just celebrated his 3rd birthday this month I thought I'd let you see him.

I must take some more photos of him, but anyone with a Springer Spaniel will know it is hard to keep them still long enough to take photos of them! He got himself into a right mess in the garden and had to have his first bath, he loves water as long as it's a pond, river or lake and not in a plastic tub!

He's a real happy chappy, but can be quite a handful!!!
